The Bank of England returns published to-day show the total reserve in notes and bullion to be £16,800,000, being an increase of .£1,268,000 as compared with the previous week. The proportion of reserve to liabilities is 44"32 per cent.

New Zealand 4 per cent inscribed stock, 106^ ; 3^ per cent do, 96.

Canterbury mutton, 4§d ; Wellington, 3§d. There is no Canterbury lamb in the market. New Zealand beef, hindquarters, 4gd.

Auckland hemp, medium quality, average ,£24 15s per ton ; Wellington, medium quality, .£23 ; the market is

strong.

New Zealand long-berried wheat is firm at 37s 9d ; South Australian and Victorian wheat also are firm at 39s and 38s 6d respectively. Copper, d£s3 per ton. Australian tin, .£92.

No 1 he3t Scotch pig iron, f.o.b. in Clyde, 47s 9d.

German sugar is firm at 12s 6d; Java sugar, 15s, nominal.
