Australasian Science.

There is more science on this Bide of the Line than the other side is aware of. More, we mean, has been done in the way of exploration under scientific auspices than anyone outside of New Zealand has any idea. We have amateurs, too, who are very earnest, lo all, the address of the distinguished President, Sir James Hector, will be of surpassing interest. Sir James .came to the Colony after a very good beginning in the scientific world as a young man. Very little known in Europe, he has bo borne himself in the Colony that he has a European reputation to-day. We dare prophesy, therefore, that the fine account he has prepared of the state of scientific research in New Zealand, from the days before Hochstetterto the present time, will be most interesting. All the other papers are on subjects of great interest. J the advertising power of the learned^men who come here is incalculable. Let us conclude by saying that, the popularity of these meetings in other countries being very great, there is every reason why it should be in New Zealand very much greater. Popularity and hospitality usually go hand in hand.
