CHEISTCHUECH. This Day. (Before F. H. Barker, Esq.) Drunkenness. — John Black, charged with being drunk at Sydenham, was fined 10s, or the usual alternative. (Before E. Beetham, Esq., E.M.) Affiliation Case. — Minnie Henderson sued Harry Cooper for the support of her illegitimate child, of which she alleged he was the father. Mr Leatham appeared 1 for the complainant ; Mr Stringer for the j defendant. After hearing the evidence of the girl, the Bench adjourned the case until Jan. 14 to secure the attendance of the man. Eemanded. — John Barnes was charged with committing a breach of the Fisheries Conservation Acfc and with larceny. The 1 offences were plleged to have been committed at Kaiapoi, and accused was remanded to that place to appear on Jan. ! 12. Bail was fixed in two sureties of .£SO ; each. j Interpleader Case. — Booth, M'Donald and Co. v. Annie Brandt, claim £14 10s. 1 Sophia Paip, Eichard Paip, and Conrad Brandt claimants. Mr Caygill appeared for the plaintiff; Mr Bruges for the claimant. Mrs Paip claimed two cowb seized by the bailiffs, she having bought them from her mother (the defendant) with money earned by herself while at service. Eichard Paip claimed a singlefurrow plough, and* twelve tons of oaten hay. The latter, he stated, was bought; by him from a man named John M'Kenzie, who bought it from Mrs Brandt. Conrad Brandfc claimed the balance of the goods under his father's will. Judgment was given for the delivery of one Jersey bull, set of disc harrows, one stack of wheat straw, three swingletrees, one wooden roller, 9 milk pans, one dray frame, one preserving pan, and one horse collar. Costs to be divided. Civil Cases. — Slater v. Ferguson, claim £24 Gs ; judgment for plaintiff by default.— Webb v. Ford, claim £0 14s 4d; judgment for plaintiff by default. — Cox v. Davidson and Co., claim £0 6s 9d; judgment for plaintiff by default. — Hamilton v. Poison, claim .£1 ls Cd; judgment for plaintiff by default. — Hudson v. Jackson, claim .£lO 17s 4d. Mr Bruges for plaintiff, Mr Izard for defendant. Plaintiff claimed as purchaser of the book debts of A. W. Leete, a saddler. The debt was acknowledged, and the defendant sought to set-off the amount of a debt due by Leete to him for milk and money lent. After argument it was admitted that the sum of JE6 2s was owing bj r Leete to Jackson for milk, and judgment was given for the full amount of the claim with costs, subject to the amount due for milk. — GlanviUe v. Fry, claim £13 7s. Mr Flesher for plaintiff, Mr Stringer for defendant, who paid JSS 83 into Court. Plaintiff claimed for work done in making plans for defendant, and for alterations to the Jollie's Pass Hotel in 188S. After hearing evidence on the subject, the Bench came to the conclusion that the sum paid into Court was sufficient, and gave judgment accordingly.
