Madame Burton's Concerts.

TO TKS EDITOB. Sin, — Now that the elections are over, will you kindly allow me space to complain of what I think is a gross breach of etiquette committed at these concerts. I speak of the unreasonable and boisterous applause accorded by a certain section, of the audience to the artists after some of the iSems. I have often heard it said that Chrictchurch foil: eve good at " free shows," but I muat say that they always want five shillings' worth of music for a two-shilling admission ticket. The other evening, for instance, one oi fcfce artists appeared to bow her acknowledgements twice, in response to the deafening coise, and one would have thought the hint would have been sufficient; butthe obstruction continued until their demands were satisfied. I think, Sir, it would be far better to disallow -encores at these concerts, and then we should get our programme arranged in the ilrst instance. — I ara.ifcc, >C P.
