XHIB UAY. (Before F. Guinness, James Gapca, and J. P. Jameson, Eeqa.) Alleged Larceny.— John Wilberg was charged with the larceny of a silver-plated cream jug and a silk handkerchief from the Criterion Hotel, on Nov. 2G. Accused was a labourer, and had been drinking about the hotel, and the things mentioned were missed. Evidence was led showing that the jug was found in accused's pocket, and his mate took the handkerchief from him in fun, and waß going to wear it, when tho barmaid recognised it aa her property. Detective Henjanrin, who arrestud accused the following morning, and other ■witnesses, proved that the accuEed had been diiaking. The Inspector of Police gave the man an! excellent character, and tie Bench, taking the view that accused was at the time not quite responsible for what he did, dismissed the case. By-Laws. — John Tippett waa find 10s for keepiDg an unregistered dope. — John Walsh was fined ss, for allowing his horse to wander on the railways. Prohibition Orders.— On the application of the wife of James Kinley, the publicans of Christchurch and surrounding districts, were otdered to be prohibited from supplying him with liquor.— A Bimilar order was issued with regard to Sarah Hale, her brother being the applicant.
