YACHTiNG.—The yacht 3 Ma*cotle, Neva, Madge, Myrtle and Lydd wjII compete in the yacht race at Lyttelton to-morrow afternoon. St Mark's, Opawa.— The Right Rev the Bi3hopof Chrietchurch will hold a Confirmation Service at St Mark's Church on Sunday, at the morning service. Lyttelton Oddfellows.— Members of this Lodge are requested to proceed to Chrißtchurch by the 1.40 p.m. train on Sunday to attend the Friendly Societies j church parade. Mounted Rifles. — The Mounted Rifles will hold a Church Parade on Sunday next. The troop will asssemble in Cathedral square at 8.30 a.m., and proceed to Governor's Bay, where they will attend Divine service »t the Church, of England. Supreme Court. — In chambers this morning, his Honor Mr Justice Denniston, on the application of Mr Harris, granted an order tor a special jury of four in the case of Brown v. Dalgety and Co., and fixed the hearing for Friday, Dec. 12.

Political Address at Ltttelton. — In response to an invitation from the Committee of the People's Political Association at Lytttlton, Mr W. P. Reeves has kindly consented to give an address at the Oddfellows' Hall, Lyttelton, to-morrow evening. His Worship the Mayor will preside, aud the gallery will be reserved for ladies.

The Cathedral. — There will be a special service for the Friendly Societies at the Cathedral on Sunday next afc 3 p.m. The general congregation, as soon as the members of the different Societies are seated, will be able to take part in the service. The offertory will be in behalf of Mr Herrick's Mission Home, and the Right Roy the Bishop of Christchurch will preach on the occasion.

PnoBATES, &c. — In Chambers this morning, his Honor Mr Justice Denniston granted probate of the wills of Thomas Sanderson, deceased, on the application of Mr Martin, and of Lilias Graeme Murdoch, deceased, on the application of Mr Izard. Letters of administration were granted in the estates of Harriet Maria Steele, deceased (Mr Fisher;, of William Gla ; son, deceased (Mr Bruges), and of Eliza Higham, deceased (Mr Martin, for MriWeston).

Prebbleton.— On Thursday the Service of Song, entitled " Dibbs," was given in the Prebbleton Town Hall by the Sb Andrew's Sunday School. The attendance was not very large, owing no doubt to the threatening weather. The piece went well from first to last, under the conductorship of Mr Syme, Mrs M'Ewan, Mrs Corrick, Misses Pirie, Robinson, and K. Weir taking the solos. The Rev Adamson gave the connective readings. Songs were aIBO giren by Mrs M'Ewan and Mrs Corrick, Messrs Power and Haig, a cornet duet by tbe Heath Bros., and clarionet solo by Mr D. Sinclair. Refreshments were dispensed during the evening.

Canterbury Land Board.— The ordinary fortnightly meeting o£ the Land board was held yesterday ; presentMessrs J. H. Baker (Chief Commissioner), D. M'Millan, A. C. Wilson, and W. Kitson. The following cash sales were reported :— Section 36300, containing 100 acres 8 perches, Hakateramea, at £2 an acre to Alex. Gunn ; Section 36301, containing 640 acres, Westerficld, afc £1 5s per acre to Alex. Strachey ; Section 36302, containing 48 acres 2 roods, Westerfield, ab£l 58 per acre to Mrs F. A. Strachey j Section 36303, containing 591 acres 2 roods, Westerfield, at £1 2s 6d to Mrs P. A. Strachey. The following sections were granted on perpetual lease :— Section 77, Reserve 261, containing 35 acres, Hakateramea, at annual rental of Is an acre, to James Johnston, jun., Section 35963, 25 acres, at Aruudel, at 3s an acre to F. J. Parharn.

Bankruptcy Proceedings. — The first meeting of the creditors of William Crossen, of Brookside, farmer, was called for 11 a.m., to-dny, but there were only two creditors present. Mr J. Cassidy appeared for the bankrupt whose statement showed unsecured creditors, £228; secured creditor, D. Stranaghan, £26 10s, secured by bill of Bale over varioua articles of stock ; assets, .£75. The unsecured creditors were William Shaw, .£ls; George Stapleton, £6 ; John Cole, £5 ; W. Lock wood, £2 10s ; B. Gardiner, £6 ; Moorhead Bros., £8 ; Mrs Thornton, .£62 10s ; Jane Shaw, £80 ; J. Jameson, £23 ; J. Boag, £20. The bankrupt rented a farm at Brookside from Mrs Thornton at £62 a year, and owed a year's rent. He had obtained an advance of £20 from Stranaghan and given him a bill of sale over the property. Mr Stranaghan had distrained, and the bankrupt had filed in consequence.

Gaeden Party. — A garden party was held in the parsonage grounds of St Bartholomew's Church, Kaiapoi, on Thursday evening. The afternoon, which was wet and cold, rather militated against its success ; but still the attendance was very fair. The lawn was very nicely decorated with flags. Stalls for the sale of work, presided over by ladieß of the Church Bee, were well patronised, as was also a refreshment tent, where tea and other good things were to be had in abundance. During the evening the Kaiapoi Braes Band gave selections of music and tho attendance increased rapidly. Later on, an entertainment in the schoolroom drew a crowded house, the audience being delighted with the Bongs, dialogues, and recitations given by the Misses Neeve and Fox, and the Clothier Bros., the whole concluding with a farce called the Pilgrim Fathers, which provoked roars of laughter.

Kaiapoi Begatta. — A meeting of the Committee was held in Middleton's Hotel on Thursday night, Mr T. H. Caverhill presiding. The collectors reported that subscriptions were coming in very freely. Mr Caverhill reported that the Traffic Manager had kindly arranged to put on an excursion train on the regatta day, and allow the Committee a portion of the proceeds. It was resolved to ask the railway authorities to permit the special train to reach Kaiapoi about noon, and leave in the evening at 7 p.m. It was resolved that the consideration of the value of money prizes be deferred until Dec. 3, the collectors in the meantime to make a special effort to get in all subscriptions. The complete programme will be advertised on Dec. 6. Ib was arranged to alter the position of the Senior Fairs to the third place on the list of events, to suit the Christchurch Clubs. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr Caverhill for his action re railway arrangements, a Ball Committee appointed, and the meeting adjourned to Dec. 3.

Sale of Crown Lands. — This morning Mr J. H. Baker, CommißSioner of Crown Lands, submitted to auction a number of forfeited immigration sections. The following sales were made : — Ashley County : Section 27734, 25 acre 3, at the upset price of £81 53, to G. D. Greenwood; section 31449, 20 acres, at .£l6 (upset price .£ls), to J. and J. Innes; section 31583, 10 acres, at the upset price of £7 10a, to J. and J. Innes. Selwyn County : Section 33589, 24a lr 21, at upset price of £12 3s 9d, to Bank of New South Wales ; section 34328, 10 acres, at the upset price of .£5, to W. Stubbs.
