NELSON, Nov. 12.

Messrs John Kerr and F. W. Plowerday announce themselves as candidates for the City of Nelson and .Richmond.

Mr Hursthouse, a candidate for WaimeaPicton, addressed the electors at Wakefield last night. He was not a staunch supporter of the present Ministry, but could not consent to hand over the Government to the Opposition of the last two years, As a leader, no man in Parliament could Bail in the same boat as Sir Harry Atkinson. Mr Biillance was not brilliant, and his re-election was doubtlul. Then Messrs Pish, Taylor, and Seddon, the next prominent Opposition members, were but mere costly talking machines. He noticed that many candidates, who were members of the Opposition, were now declaring themselves independent, which meant that they intended to change sides and insist on a stable Government. He approved of limited borrowing for road purposes, and advocated reciprocal Preetrade with Australia, ami would never support a Land in place of a Property tax.
