At Epsom to-day the following was the result of the Oaks :— OAKS STAKES, of 4000 bovs for the winner, 400 1 sovs for the nommitor of. the winner, 300 sova for the owner of the second, and 200 sova for the owner of the third ; for fillies, Bst 101b each ; lay subscription of 50 sova each, nft if deolared by the flrit Tuesday in January, 1890, nnd 10 bovs only if declared by the first Tuesday in January, 18S9 ; any surplus to go tofthe winner. About one mile and a half. 168 subs. Duke of Portland's br f Memoir, by St SimonQuiver 1 Chevalier Uinißtrelli'a br f Signorina, by Ht Simon— Star of Portioi ' ... ... 2 Mr J. H, Houldawortk's b f Ponzn, by Springfield— Kapoli 3 f Memoir ran six times last season, winning the Bedford Plate at Leicester, and | the Fifth Zetland Stakes and Prendergast Stakeß at Newmarket. Her total winnings > in stakes as a two-year-old amounted to , £1308 7s. Last month she ran second to . her stable companion Semolina in the One , Thousand Guineas, and won the New- 1 , market Stake of 10,000 sovs. Signorina ran nine times last Beason and was never : beaten, her victories including the May Plate and the Breeders' Plate at Newmarket, the Whitsuntide Plate at Manchester, the British Dominion Stakes at Sandown Park, the Grand Two-year-old Stakes at Kempton Park, the Berkshire Plate at Windsor, the Harrington Stakes at Derby, f and the Middlepark Plate and Cheveley t j Stakes at Newmarket.
