SWEATING COMMISSION.
[Pbr Pkbss Association. J
WELLINGTON, May 7.
It is understood that the Sweating Commission will recommend that the law in force in America, giving liens to subcontractors upon work on which they are engaged, should be enacted in New Zealand. They attribute the increase of youths and girls in trades to the division of labour and the use of machinery, the skill of employees under these conditions not being required of such a high order. It is probable that they will recommend the appointment of Boards of Conciliation to deal with labour disputes.
