BRACKENFIELD HUNT CLUB.
» To-day a well attended meeting of subscribers to the above Club was held at the Junction Hotel, Rangiora. Mr G. D. Greenwood, presided. The meeting was convened to take evidence with the object of taking some action against Mr Holdsworth, of Amberley, for alleged shooting of one of the hounds. The statements of the huntsmen and others following the hounds having been taken, it was decided not to take proceedings against Mr Holdsworth at present, as Mr Parsons thought the wounded hound might recover. Indignation waa expressed by supporters of: the hunt at the 1 action of Mr Holdsworth as he had been looked upon as friendly to the Club, and ■ bad given no notice of his objections to the , hounds. It was agreed that at future meets hunting be carried on all day with- : out a break for lunch. The first meet was I arranged for Saturday next, to be > held at Brockenhurafc, Woodend; and it was also agreed to take the i pack to the Amuri district early ir . the season. A large party of sportsmer i visited the kennels at Brackenneld 01 i Monday last. The inspection proved th< kennels to be in first-class order, am excellently managed by Mr E. J. Parsons [ and his assistants. There are now seventeer couples of hounds in the pink of condiI tion. Some of the huntsmen's mounti . were also brought out for inspection — Si] Peter, Young Guy and Gabriel Jinks wer< . amongst the number, and all were in gooc I fettle.
