The Supreme Court ha 3 been engaged since Friday in an interesting case, Corrie v. Thompson, iv which the statement of claim sets forth that in 1854 the father of the plaintiff died at Kilmore, Ireland, leaving his property to William, James, Margaret, and David, subject to a life interest t_ the widow. In ISG7 defendant Thompson, it is alleged, transmitted certain moneys to New Zealand for investment, and in 18(58 the parties left Ireland and became resident in New Zealand. It is further alleged that he employed these moneys in purchasing and stocking fandg in the Waitotara district. In 1876 defendant was said to have employed cerlaiu moneys in acquiring the Kairohatu freehold, and in November, 1877, induced plaintiff and hi 3 brother James to purchase the said land for .£7017, of which ,£IOOO was paid by plaintiff out of moneys he was individually entitled to under the will ; and the balance of £6017 wa3 represented by Thompson as being the shares of plaintiff and his brother James in the trust money. They also signed a receipt as for their joint shares. Plaintiff prayed for discovery of tho will, of the several mortgage-deeds, and all books of accounts aud records of dealingo with moneys. He also asked for an account of all moneys received by defendant Thompson, and all transactions in real and personal property, for payment of costs, and such further relief as may be just. Defendant was the first witness called, and his examination occupied the Court till Saturday aftornoon. It is expected that the case will last till Tuesday. Great interest is taken in the case locally. Messrs Hutchison and Ho^i» are for the plaintiff, and Alessr3 James Chapman (Wellington) and Marshall for the defendant.
