LONDON, Aran, 19. A report is current that a French bank tendered for three millions of the Victorian loan.

New Zealand butter, good quality, 755 ; prime quality, 85s. Cheese, good quality, 475. liecent arrivals have been of unequal quality.

The wool market is steady. South Australian is neglected, owing to its being of wasty character. Foreign buyers have taken three-fifths of the bales available.

Leather is neglected, the bulk being bought in. Basils have declined fd, and hides |d per lb.

The net yield of the Victorian loan was par.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company have received the following London cablegram, dated

Tallow. — The market is weak. Fine mutton and good beef are worth respectively 24s 6d and 23s per cwt.

Frozen Meat. — The mutton market is quiet. Canterbury and Wellington mutton is worth respectively 4§d and 4§d per lb. New Zealand beef, stocks are light, and the market is firmer. Fore-quarters are worth 4|d, and hind-quarters 4§d per lb.

New Zealand Hemp. — There is more enquiry Medium is 'worth _820 per ton.

Templeton. — The monthly meeting of the School Committee was held on Monday evening ; present — Messrs S. Bailey (Chairman), James Voice, C. Benjamin, Q. W. Lucock and W. Bailey. The monthly report showed the number on the roll to be 105, averaged daily attendance 79*l,highest attendance 93. Accounts amounting to ■£1 9s 9d were passed, and the meeting closed.

Consecration Services. — For the consecration services, to be held in the Cathedral, when Archdeacon Julius will be formally accepted aB Bishop of thiß diocese, Mr G. F. Tendall, Cathedral organißt, has composed an anthem and a hymn. The worda of the latter have been written by the Very Eev the Dean, and the music is of the simplest, aB far as harmony iB concerned, while the tune is one that should easily be caught by any congregation. The anthem, which is an elaborate composition, the words selected and written by the Eev Canon Dunkley, precentor, is in five movements. Among these is a tenor solo, " O, That I Knew Where I Might Find Him," &c, which will be sung by Mr E. Gibson, and which, according to those who have heard it, is very beautiful. A recitative for a boy's voice follows this ; a quartette, unaccompanied, "I Will Wash My Hands in Innocency," comes next, the quiet devotional idea of the words being well reflected in Mr Tendall's music, and a joyous, martial chorus, " Thanks be to God Who Giveth us the Victory," endß the anthem. A bold subject is given out by each of the parts in turn, with a very simple accompaniment, and then worked out with contrapuntal elaborations of a florid kind, and a grand accompaniment of the full organ, which will show Mr Tendall's powers, both as a composer and executant. The anthem is dedicated "as a token of high respect and esteem to the Eight EevH.J.C. Harper, D.D.,"and the Bishophas expressed his pleasure at the dedication.
