City Council v. Veterans.
The City Fathers and the Veteran Cricketers had pleasant weather for their match on Lancaster Park to-day, and they j enjoyed themselves proportionately. The Councillors were, as was fitting, captained by His "\Vor3hip the Mayor, while the veterans were led by the evergreen Willnier. Messrs Auckland and Clark were the Umpires. His Worship won the toss, and elected to bat on what; was undeniably a capital wicket.
