Councillor Gray's Notice of Motion.

The following letter appeared in the Lyttelton Times of this morning : Sib,— l hope that when Councillor Gray's notice of motion comes on for discussion before the City Council, our Municipal representatives will give it a united support. The present unsightly state of the Domain is a sad contrast to what it ÜBed to be a few yeara a"*o. The Board haß spent all the money at its disposal, and now finds itself in a hole. It has no sympathy with tho general publio, andthe genoral publio warmly reciprocates the feeling. Being a nominated Board, it can do practically what ifc likes, no man daring to make it afraid. The publio oannot in any way affect its deoisions^ and the public are getting to feel bnt little intorest in the management of the Park. Give tho City Council control of the Park, and the ratepayers will then have the right of saying how it shall be managed. If the Council were to obtain control of the Park, it would not dare to attempt the alienation of a single foot of its soil, the ratepayers would look after that pretty sharply. But Bunn 0 -.iue the Board to go from bad to worse (and that ia jußt what it haa been dome for Man past), what guarantee have we, tho oitizenß Of Chj-istchuroh, that it will not offer-certain portiona on lease or for sale The Poxnaia Board haa the power of doing ft great deal more harm than th« Council could possibly think of. See : n*-* Jhei-jfare, that Councillor Gray's motion |^^M-b^;% the right direction, I W^P^z^i^^^tv.id^.in carried.— l
