MANDEVILLE AND RANGIORA.
The monthly meeting of this Board was held on May 10 ; present — Messrs G. Wallace (Chairman), G. Edwards, H. Macfarlane, and .7. Stalker. — Leave was granted Captain Parsons, who was elsewhere as Chairman of Property tax reviewers. — The Buturning Officer notified the result of the annual election. — Tho Chairman, after thanking the membera for their cordial assistance during the past year, vacated the chair. — Ou the motion of Mr Wallace, seconded by Mr Stalker, Mr Macfarlane was unanimously elected Chairman for the ensuing year, and a hearty vote of thanks was recorded on the minutes to the retiring Chairman. — By ballot it was decided that Messrs Stalker and Wallace retire at the election next year. — Mr Wallace reported that the Surveyor and himself had met the Chairman of the Drainage Board and the Surveyor at No. 1 Drain, and after deciding upon what should be done, had agreed, on the part of the Board, to contribute £13. — Letters were read — From the Mandeville Drainage Board, forwarding £4 lis Sd, half cost of clearing No. 7 drain. — Messrs Orchard, Petrie, Fear, and others petitioned for a grant towards the floodgate at the mouth of tho Taranaki creek. Eesolved— "That Mr Stalker and the Surveyor inspect and report." — Mr Preece and five others petitioned to have Preece's road shingled. Beferred to the Surveyor to report. — Messrs Hickland, Plaskett and others waited on the Board to apply for assistance to the Drainage Board to clear No. 3 drain. It was decided tb give a grant in aid towards half tho cost, not to exceed £3 10s. — It was decided that notice be given to clear the gorse off Burrell's road, and to refer a matter of shingling part of Blackmore's road to the Surveyor. — Tenders were opened for patching North road. — Accounts (£6B 15s 2d) were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned.
