AQUATIC.
UNION SOWING CLUB. Two double-sculling races have been decided in connection with this Club. Three crews have been in training for some time, having in view the Junior Double Sculls at the Lake Forsy th Eegatta. The heats resulted as follows: — First Heat.— T. Gee (bow), C. Ward ( stroke) beat Flavel (bow), G. W. Forbes (stroke). Forbes led for over half a mile by a little over a length, when the pace began to tell and he gave up at Stanmore bridge. It was a punishing race, and so long as condition hung but, Forbes made a gallant struggle. Time — 7min 51sec. Final Heat: — G. Bonnington (bow), J. A. Hyndman (stroke), beat Ward and Gee. , Ward went away with the lead, which he held for half the distance, when Hyndman, coming with great dash at Cowlishaw's, got the inside running, and entered the straight with a good lead. Won by about four lengths. Time — 7min 31sec. The Challenge Maiden Double Sculls and Junior Pairs will be rowed on Friday and Saturday evenings respectively.
