, " ♦ CHBISTCHUKCH WORKING MEN'S , CLUB. . Last evening a return match was fired ■ j between teams selected from the rifle class ' and H.M.S. Rapid. Some thirty men of ; . the Rapid attended. The teams consisted ; i of ten men aside, seven shots each, Martini- •; Henry rifles, Morris tube attachment. . . The available space in the hall was filled , ; by the members of the Club, and very . ; keen interest was taken in the match, 1 1 especially when the two last men fired, the . ; Navals at that time being one point ahead. , ; The scoring was good, the result placing ■ the Club's Rifle Class the winning team i ' for the second time with one point , ahea3. The scoring was as follows :— H.M.S. Rapid. — Robinson (Torpedo Instructor), 29; Thorpe (Sergeant), 30; j Wilkinson (Signalman), 30; German, ! (A.8.), 31 ; Passmore (A.8.), 31 ; Chapman, (A.8.), 26; Lee (Signalman), 29; Crocker (A.8.), 29; Elliß (A.8.), 30; Jinks (Gunner), 30. Total, 295. W.M.C. Rifle Class.— C. M. Hayman, 30 ; J. Glanville, 29 ; R. Dennis, 23 ; W. B. Scott, 31; J. Fox, 29; J. Coatley, 31; G. •■ .Balfour, 31 ; J. P. Kissel, 31 ,- W. Scull, ; 31 ; W. Baker, 30. Total, 296. j The visiting team was in charge of the j officer, Mr Jinks ; the class team in charge , ! of their Captain, Mr Scull. Theannounce- : ment of the result was greeted with loud I cheering by the men from the vessel. After ' the match the visitors were entertained by : the class, several patriotic songs being I rendered both by members of the Club and j the visitors, making a pleasing termination to a rifle contest, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all present. j The return match between Messrs W. S. , King and R. H. Donnolly against Messrs ! J. P. Oliver and J. M. Walker, was fired at | the Bromley Range yesterday afternoon. j The former couple again proved the victors, j the scores being King 84, Donnolly 77, ! while Oliver and Walker only succeeded I in putting together 77 and 70 respectively. The conditions were seven snots each at the 200, 300 and 500-yard ranges.
