The usual fortnightly meeting of the Sydenham Borough Council was held last night 3 present— His Worship the Mayor (Mr W. Langdown) presiding, and Councillors Forrester, E. 3S/L Taylor, MufEett, T. Taylor, Booth, and Bowden. Leave of absence was granted to Councillor White for six weeks, on account of illness, and of four weets to Councillor Jacques, who wa3 absent in Blenheim. Several letters on routine 1 matters were referred to the proper Comm^tteea. It was decided to call for fc^h tenders for leasing, for grazing purp<J» es ' the Eeoreafcioa reserve, The balance-sheet of the Borough was laid on the table. , WOBKS COMMITTKE. j The Committee reported recommendingM a reply to the Spreydon Road Board's letter, in regard to the footpath vi Jerrold street, expressing the Council's hope to be yet able to arrange for widening the street, if the Board would be willing to pay half cost. The Committee recommended a list of streets for concrete channelling during the season, as well as a list for footpath asphalting. After some discussion several streets were added to the lists, and the report was approved of, an intimation being made that the Works Committee did not intend to put on any freah labour. FINANCE. The Finance Committee's report was read. It showed receipts on general account to have been .£199 3s 3d ; interest account, £53 3s; separate "accounts, .£149 9s sd; total, JE3SI 15a Bd. The Committee recommended .the payment of accounts amounting to 7s 4d on general account. The following balances were reported : — Credits : S- parate accounts, je27O 9s 9d ; interest, .£165 16a Id; loan, £284, 19s lOd ; fixed deposit, JE8000; total, .88723 ss. Debits: General account, £923 14s. The Committee proposed to take immediate steps to recover outstanding rates. LINCOLN BOAD. blt was decided to water the Lincoln road during Show days as usual, provided the A. and P. Association and the Biccarton Boad Board were prepared to bear a portion of the cost, Councillors Forrester and T. E. Taylor to wait upon the A. and P. Association on the subject. THB MAYOB. Leave of absence was granted to the Mayor for one month, to allow His Worship to pay a visit to Victoria. Councillor E. M. Taylor had pleasure in supporting the granting of the leave, the more bo that His Worship bad been good enough to /consent to stand for another term in office. (Hear, hear.)
