Sad Accident at Lyttelton.
Q A STEVEDORE INJURED. At about 11.30 a.m. to-day, an Austrian stevedore named Charles Demicheli, met with severe injuries, which will probably prove fatal. At the hoar above mentioned he was found in the lower hold of the steamship Arawa, lying in' a pool of blood. From what we can gather, he had been sent to turn some sheep in th.9 reserve chamber, and had evidently slipped down a door, falling about twenty feet on to the skin of the ship. The poor fellow was not discovered for some little while, until some other men were sent to join him, they having finished the job they had in hand, fie was then found, as described, by T. Harki6S, and was at once conveyed to the ward, and Dr Pitzhenry sent for. Dr T. O. Guthrie was aleo soon present, but both gentlemen at once saw that the unfortunate man's case was hopeless, as his skull was very badly fractured. The sufferer has a wife and three children.
