Ernest Driver, who injured himself on Oct. 14, by diving into four feet of water at the saltwater baths, died on Satnrday of concussion of the brain. . Richard Howarth, of Onehunga, was •seriously injured on Saturday afternoon by fallingf rom the front platform of a tramcar in Symonds Btreet. He was rendered unconscious, the blood oozing from his ear. He was removed to the Hospital, and is progressing favourably. ; A Maori is in the Hospital in a critical ••jtate, .the result of injuries sustained by fcm while a prisoner at Mount Eden. He had a quarrel with a fellow-prisoner, Arthur Kirk, while stonebreaking, and the latter pushed the Maori into the quarry, causing rupture. Kirk was sentenced by the gaol authorities to seven days' confinement on bread and water for the offence. • A house in Summer street, Ponsonby, owned by Mr Savery, and occupied by Mr Ford, was destroyed by fire at 2 a.m. today-. The adjoining house was damaged.
