The Gas Question. — Yesterday afternoon a conference took place between the Directors of the Gas Company and the special Lighting Committee of the Christchurch City Council. It is understood that important proposals were submitted by the former, and will be reported by the Committee at the meeting of the Council on Monday. Postal Delivery. — In yesterday's issue a correspondent complained of the late hour at which letters were delivered from the Christchurch Post Office, and made a comparison between the arrangements here and in Auckland, which was decidedly unfavourable to the local institution. We ara now informed by a gentleman thoroughly acquainted with the service that no deliveries commence before 8 a.m., and if our correspondent has received his letters later here than in Auckland, it is because his present residence occupies a different position in the rounds of delivery. The postal authorities should be made acquainted with any unreasonable delay.
