A telegram was received from tbe Government Insurance Department, approving .£2OOO loan for twenty years at five and a half per cent. Letter from HonE. Richardson, promising to do all possible to further railway openings petition. From Mr E. M. Wright, Ohoka, on the subject of the western drainage, as afrecting Baker's trustees. This letter was acknowledged, and Mr Wright informed that the matter ia now under the consideration of the Works Committee. From the Treasury, Wellington, advising payment of balance of subsidy, viz., _£23 3s 3d. From thfr Mandeville and Eangiora Boad Board, agreeing to contribute _S2O towards embankment. Accepted. From Mr Nalder, Borough Solicitor, covering opinion re procedure for recovery of rent of reserves. IN COMMITTEE. Tbe Council then went into Committee to consider the matters of their claim against the National Ho__tgage**and Agency Company,: also, to receive tenders for erection o_M_!ouncil Chambers. Report adopted. STANDING OBDEKS. Councillor Wearing moved suspension of Standing Orders, to enable a former resolution to be rescinded, and the matter of the tenders disposed of atonce.
