NEW SOUTH WALES.
A BIG GOLD FIND. j The most startling discovery of gold aver made in the Albury district has just been reported from the Black Eange, within five miles of the Albury Post Office. Pieces almost of pure gold, as big as crown , pieces, have been found, just held together by quartz. A pocket handkerchief full of specimens believed to contain 16oz of pure gold has been brought in. The find was , made by Meredith, Day and Co, prospecting near the line of the Ethiopian Eeef, an abandoned quartz- claim, worked twentyfive years ago, which yielded sensational returns. The new patch was found only 12ffc from the surface. It is not known yet if there is a well-defined reef, but the indications are said to be favourable.
