AN IRRITATED DISTRICT.
[Special to the "Stab."] NAPIER, Mauch 13. A telegram published in the Daily Telegraph last evening, announcing the intended removal of Inspector Bullen, has caused a feeling of much anger throughout the. town, and is certain to do so all through the district. ■ With the amalgamation of districts requiring a reduction in the number of Inspectors, no fault is to be found; but there is here no alteration of boundaries. It is feared, amongst the strongest of Government supporters, that a good man is being sacrificed for some reason unknown. 'A he news spread like wild-fire, and nothing but indignation was expressed at the intended enforced retirement of an efficient and zealous officer in the prime of life. Many think the news cannot be true, because such a change would be not only unwise from a departmental point of view, but bo irritating tc one of the strongest Ministerial strongholds in the Colony.
