Lyttelton.
Mr G. Leslie Lee presided at the Lyttelton K.M. Court this morning, for the purpose of hearing and determining objections to the Lyttelton valuation list. Mr H. J. V. Rogers, Town Clerk, and Mr C. A. Rich, Borough valuer, were present. The following alterations were made by the Court : — Stephen Fisher, £60 to £45; Charles Clark, £18 to £M; J. T. Fisher, £65 to <£SG. Mi J. Holmes appeared for the Charitable Aid Board, and objected to the Orphanage building and grounds being included in the valuation list. He addressed the Bench and quoted section (5 of the Crown and Native Lands Rating Act, 1882. to prove that as property used for charitable purposes the ground was exempt from rating. The Bench held the same opinion, and accordingly made an order that the amount be struck out. Mr H. J. Y~ Rogers, on behal? of the Council, applied to have the value of Mr J. B. Hill's property increased from .£320 to .£360. Aoplication granted. Mrs Rouse, reduced from .£64. to £50; W. .T. Taylor, £19 to ! .£l6 ; H. N. Na'.der, £65 to £52 ; Thomas M'lntosh, £50 to £4io; Joseph Atkinson, ! £17 to £16 ; Thomas M'Clafcchie, £G1 to £00 ; James Fleming, .£45 to £2L [Left sitting.!
