«■ GRAIN AND PRODUCE. The grain market during the week has been, in most of tho lines, very quiet. The English cable-pa-ams respecting values in London, combined with the extreme rates ruing for iinnjedi-te freight, have tended to daaden prices for wheat. The pub. Jication of a portion of the return, for tho Province bear out tbe anticipations formed as tithe output. Wheat comes up to expectations, wbilo oats do not show up quite bo well. In the r-resent state ofthe market tbe figures will not influence values in any way. The weather lately has been most favourable forharves 1 ; work, and the crops may be looked upon as .enured. Threshing is now proceeding vigorously. Producers, however, in view of rates ruling, are mose inclined to store than sell, and this policy, there is no doub -, will be more generally adopted this season than has obtained for some time past. Wheat.— Old has been Eold at 2. lOd to 3_, e_ store, in small lots for mi-inir purposes. Ihe few parcels of the .new oro • that have been sold have been placed at 3a 81 to 2s Bd f.o.b. Tuscan and Pearl find most favour with uujo.3. Hunter's coming at Id to 2d less. Oats,— The quantity offering haa been small, growers preferring to hold for higher rates. Good, heavy feed are quoted at Is 6d to ls 7d, Dun at ls 7d to ls Bd, with a good demand. BA_L_T_>-Tho market for this grain* has been aotive. Sales of good quality are reported at 4s to 4s 43. The principal buyers hava been the brewers. A parcel of Californian Chevalier came to hand hy the San Francisco mail. The quality of the grain is reported to he excellent. Grass-sued.— Ejegrasß has not been offered so freely. Prices remain at 2s lo -2s 3d for farmers' d-ess.d. Large porohases of cocksfoot have beon made in fulfilment of export orders for shipment to England, via. Melbourne. These having been satisfied, the market is c s-er. Good samples are now quoted at S.d to 3J-, while badly dressed is neglected at 2f_ to 3d. 'J he market at the moment may be bps. described as sick. Dairt Pboddok.— Prime samples of butter are scares*; prices range from 4d to 6d. Cheese, in overstock, at 2_d to 3.3.
