Clouds of locusts descended upon the central provinces of Spain, and in a few hours have eaten up every leaf and every blade of grass and crops, so that the very hue of the country has ceased to be green. The sun ha 3 been obscured by the myriads in flight, and railway traina have been brought to a standstill or compelled to move slowly, owing to the accumulated billions of insects heaped up on the route. It is reported that whole provinces . are ruined. •
