Linwood.

Mr D. Eeese met the electors of Linwood last evening, at the Oddfellows' Hall, East Belt, a very large number of electors being present, and the meeting was of a most orderly character, the candidate being listened to with great attention. Mr J. T. Smith occupied the chair, and Mr Reese, who was received with applause, reiterated, in the main, the speeches which he had previously delivered at the East Belt and at Richmond. A great nu caber of questions were then put to the candidate, who answered them in a manner which was apparently satisfactory to the majority of those present. A vote of thanks and confidence in Mr Reese was moved by Mr Martyn and seconded by Mr R. Clephane. An amendment, moved by Mr Penfold, and seconded by an elector, to the effect that a vote of thanks only_ should bo accorded to Mr Reese, was carried by a small majority. Mr Reese then moved a vote of thanks to the Chairman, which was carried and duly acknowledged. Threo cheers for Reese, three cheers for Loug— rey, and three cheers for Flesher terminated a very orderly meeting.
