A PROJECTED ROYAL MARRIAGE.
Referring to a previous announcement that there was a " project of marriage " between the Grand Duke Michel Michailovitch of Russia, and one of the daughters of the Prince and Princess of Wales, Truth
says : — *' At that time not one person in 10,000 had ever heard of this particular Grand Duke, but he has been in London during the last month, and has been much in society, and constantly at Marlborough House. Whether the contemplated marriage will take place I know not, but theve will be several difficulties to overcome, not the least of which is the absolute necessity for the wife of a Russian Grand Duke to become a member of the Greek Church. The Grand Duke Michel, who was born in October, 1861, is a cousin of the Emperor of Russia, being the second of the six sons of the Grand Duke Michel Nicolaievitch, and his mother is a sister of the Grand Duko of Baden. He ia generally regarded aa being in every way the most promising of tho younger members of the Eomanoff family, and is a great contrast to the brothers of the Czar (Serge and Paul), who are old Boyard Russians, with a strong taint of the pupe Tartar savage. If the Grand Duke Michel's visit to England is to end in a marriage, the official announcement of the consent (1) of the Emperor of Russia and (2) of the Queen will be notified during the Jubilee period. It would be a very fair match from a pecuniary point of view."
