- — ♦ . A Midland Railway contract ia advertised in this issue. An auction sale of furniture in an insolvent estate will be held at Mr Ayers' City Saleroom at noon tomorrow. Unction sales of produce, guns, a piano, &c, will be held to-morrow by Messrs H. J. Ross and Co. Silk and satin dresses, electro-plated ware and drapery constitute the attractions of an auction sale to be held by Mr Beauchamp at noon to-morrow. By our advertising columns it will be seen that Hobday's Stores Company are now showing their first shipments of autumn drapery. The choir of St Andrew's Presbyterian Church will- attend at the funeral of the late Mr M'Pherson on Sunday, and will sing suitable selections at the grave. The interment takes place in the Scotch Cemetery. At the Resident Magistrate's Court this morning, a man named G. C. R. Richards was sentenced to a month's hard labour on various charges of imposition. John Henry Donovan, on a similar charge, was sentenced to fourteen days* imprisonment.
