MUSICAL SOCIETY.

— "• The fijst meeting of the new Conwittee of the above Society was held at Mr Loughsan'fl rooms yesterday, at 4 p.m. j present; — Mr. H. H. Loughnan (in the chair), the Yen Archdeacon Lingard, Messw H. Ootterill, T. H. Barnett, A. Kaye, W. laard and A. Appleby. An apology was received from Messrs Wynn* Williams and Carrick for non-attendance. It was decided to put Cowen'e " Sleeping Beauty " in rehearsal for the first concert, andsuoh other work at the Conduotor, with Messrs Applpby and Loughnan, shall reoommend. It was decided to art the lady members of the Society to appoint a Ladies' Committee, to work in conjunction with the General Committee in forwarding the interests of theSooietj. After roue discussion, it was resolved— (l) "That all honorary members of the Society receive ten tickets of admission to the Society's concerts per annum, in lieu of eight JUI heretofore ;" (2) "That the concerts of the Society be repeated within the then current week as may be found convenient, the charge for admission to non-ticket holders on the fir. t nisrht to be 3n, and on the second night 2a Gd atid 1b ;" (8) "That in view of the repetition of concerts, no practice be held in the concert week unleßS altogether unavoidable." It was decided that the allotment of solos b* made immediately the programme is fully deoided upon. Mattrre relative to the orchestra were debate n at length, but postponed.
