C.J.C. Midsummer Meeting.

TRAINING NOTES— THIS MORNING'S

WORK.

The tracks at Ricoarton are now in excellent order, and trainers, taking advantage of the glorious weather, made an early start this morning. H. Thompson, with Cutts' team, was the first to put in an appearance, and Galatea and the Chokebore tw.,-year-olds were treated to useful halfpace work. All the youngsters have made a lot of progress since the Metropolitan meeting, Kiinberley, wbp is full of muscle and as gay as a kitten, looking particularly well. Bereeford and Count d'Orsay covered a mile and a quarter fast, the former moviDg the better of the two in an indifferent gallop. Russley completed a fast round in capital style, and Marion, looking quite her best, did slow work without exhibiting any signs of lameness. Fair Nell, another animal that has improved very much in appearance since the Metropolitan meeting, did slow work. This filly has thrown off all signs of lameness, and will resume Btrong work next week. Talebearer cantered very stiff for a mile, and Tit Bit covered a similar distance at half- pace. Peter Osbeck, riderless, was led for a couple of miles at a smart canter, moving fairly veil. Rubina covered two miles and a half in quite her best form, and seemed to enjoy her work. Hermitage went twice round in very indifferent form. Tasman did long Blow work, and has lost very little of his condition, but his leg will hardly stand another race. Repose put in a fast mile. The filly looks and «foea remarkably well, but her manners are not on the improve. Thunderbolt and Engagement did useful work in company. Thunderbolt galloped with more than his usual freedom, but the filly is at best an awkward mover. Aroha and Mainboom were treated to slow work, and his Secretary was fighting for hia head all through a good two-mile gallop. First King covered two miles and a half in nice style, and Kingask did useful work. Ruby, Vaultress, and Buckthorn performed half-pace work in Company. Ruby is looking light, but is reputed to be in gqod fettle.
