I A negro named Eeed recently assaulted and murdered a girl at Gainstown, Alabama, and then fled. The entire population searched for him, and eventually caught him on the Mobile Eiver. He was taken to the Bcene of the crime, where he confessed. He was chained to a tree, aud there roasted alive, about five hundred persons, including both whites and negroes, watching the scene.
