Mr Richard Threefall, lecturer on physics at Caius College, Cambridge, has been appointed Professor of Physics at the Sydney University. A shipment of herring ova will be forwarded by the Ruapehu in March. The exhibit of wines and beer from Victoria intended for tho Indian and Colonial Exhibition has arrived in splendid condition. As an outcome of the representations made to Lord Granville by the Agents-General, respecting the New
Hebrides, the former has requested the Agents to forward to their respective Governments a secret despatch ■on the subject. The Agents consider I the assurance they have received from Lord Granville satisfactory.
