Paris is so attractive because it appears every morning with a clean face. The streets are thoroughly swept, and even washed when they want it. The housefronts are periodically scraped or scoured, under heavy penalties for neglect. The inhabitants accordingly are entirely free from that peculiar form of low depression which ought to be known as London melancholia, though it has not yet found its place in the boobs.
