. » The President of the Chamber of Commerce has received the following letter from the Postal Department :— Wellington, Feb. 18, 1886. Sir, — I am directed to reply to your letter of Jan. 22, and to inform you that the Poßtmaster-General has now been pleased to direct that all arrivals and departures of ocean-going steamers and sailing vessels, at and from the ports enumerated by you, viz., the Bluff, Port Chalmers, Lyttelton, Wellington, Nelson, Napier, New Plymouth, Onehunga, and Auckland, shall be telegraphed daily to Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin, and posted on the Telegraph shipping notice boards for public information. It is intended to bring this into operation on and after Monday next. I have the honour to be. Sir, Your obedient servant, W. Gbat, Secretary.
