Sir, — I am directed to reply to your letter of Jan. 22, and to inform you that the Poßtmaster-General has now been pleased to direct that all arrivals and departures of ocean-going steamers and sailing vessels, at and from the ports enumerated by you, viz., the Bluff, Port Chalmers, Lyttelton, Wellington, Nelson, Napier, New Plymouth, Onehunga, and Auckland, shall be telegraphed daily to Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin, and posted on the Telegraph shipping notice boards for public information.
