COMMITTAL FOR TRIAL.

ASSAULTING AN EDITOR. WELLINGTON, Fbb. 22. To-day a man named Cornelius Todd was charged with breaking into Mr Coogan's tailor's shop and stealing certain wearing apparel therefrom. He was committed for trial. A man named Mullane has been sentenced to a month's hard labour, and ordered to find sureties to keep the peace for six months, for striking the editor of a local paper a violent blow on the face as he was walking down the street reading a paper. Defendant pleaded that the paper had commented on the Parnell party, but he was really instigated by a third party, who has a grievance against the paper.
