Increasing Success of the Liberals.
A Denial. The Conservative Chance Considered Hopeless. LONDON, Dec. 3. The latest election returns show that the Liberals have gained 262 seats, the Conservatives 210, and the Parnellites 52. Mr Stephen Mason, the Liberal candidate, has been elected for Mid-Lanark. Mr Richard Lalor, Home Ruler, for Queen's County, and Sir Matthew Ridley, have been defeated. Dec. 4. Mr William Sproston Came has been defeated. Mr Gladstone considers that an alliance between the Conservatives and the moderate " Liberals is impossible. The captain of the Orient steamer John Elder, denies that his vessel had a narrow escape from going on the rocks at Ushant on Sunday last. The IStand'ird states that the chance of the Conservatives obtaining a" majority is hopeless. King Theebaw is proceeding to Calcutta.
