The North Island Railway Committee.
[Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Sept. 16. The North Island Railway Committee met this morning, and examined Mr John Sheehan, Mr Rochfort (surveyor), and Mr Fraser, who had passed through the country which the lines traverse. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. Sir George Grey gave notice of a Bill to amend the Law Practitioners Act of 18S2. Mr Holmes gave notice to ask the Government whether the congratulatory telegrams which passed between Major Atkinson and the Agent-General, on the former resuming the Premiership, were paid for out of public expenditure. Also, to ask the Government who were employed in forming the Civil Service report, and the cost thereof, and also by whose instructions was the type distributed, and the names and addresses of those to whom were sent copies of the Civil Service Bill.
