Mails close for the following places as under subject to the necessary alterations) : — Saturday, August 30. For Northern Ports, per s.s. Hawea, at 7 p.m. The guard's van must not he used for this mail. Tuesday, Sept. 2. For Otago and Australian Colonies, per Tarawern, at 1.45 p.m.; late fee at 2.10 p.m. ; guard's van, 2.40 p.m.- train. For Northern Ports, per Wanaka- at 7 p.m. The guard's van must not he used for this mail. Wednesday, Sept. 3. For United Kingdom and Continent of Europe, via Brindisi (specially addressed correspondence only), and Australian Colonies, and also for France, Algiers, Mauritius, Cape of Good Hope, Madagascar, &c, &c. (specially addressed, "per French packet " only), per express, to connect with s.s. Tarawera, at 7.30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4. For United Kingdom and Continent of Europe, per Kotomahana (to connect with s.s. lonic at Wellington). This mail will be due in London about Oct. 16. Notice.— On and after Sept. 1 mails for offices on the Southbridge branch will close at Christchurch at 7.30 a.m.
