ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.

WELLINGTON, August 30. Robert M'Lachlan, a railway enginedriver, cut his throat this morning. The wound was not fatal. The neighbours were alarmed by the family, and sent for medical instance. Three doctors arrived at the scene, and sewed the man'B throat up. He was conveyed to the hospital, where he lies in a precarious condition. In his pocket, a paper was found, on which was written an appeal to the benevolent to care for his children, and stating that he was driven to commit the deed, owing to his life being rendered miserable by the conduct of his wife. Dr Jackson, and the other attendants at the Quarantine station, were admitted to pratique yesterday, and returned" to town in excellent health.
