The Now Zealand Shipping Company's chartered steamship Doric arrived here on Saturday from Plymouth (April 26) en route for Auckland. There are several cases of measles and chicken pox on board, and
one death from small pox occurred shortly after leaving Plymouth. The passengers for this port have been landed and placed in quarantine, and the vessel has proceeded on her voyage to Auckland. CAIRO, June 8. , Intelligence has been received that Berber, an important town on the Nile, to the north of Khartoum, has fallen to the rebels after a brief struggle, and that the rebels are now in full occupation of that portion of Egypt. The garrison surrendered their arms aud went over to the assailants. The remainder, who declined to yield, were killed to a man.
