Suicide.

A melancholy case of suicide occurred last evening, when Mra Adelaide Cass, wife of Mr Bony Cass, destroyed her own life by cutting her throat. The unfortunate lady, who had been unwell and in a depressed state of mind for some time, lefb her home at Kelly's road, Shirley, shortly before 5 o'clock, saying that she intended to visit a neighbour, named Mrs Morrison. Her daughter offered to accompany her, but she refused. Miss Cass, however, followed her to Mrs Morrison's house, where Mrs Cass received a shock from an electric machine. After this had been administered, Mrs Morrison and Miss Cass left the room, and went into the dairy for some milk. After they had been there a few moments, they heard a noise, as if Mrs Cass was vomiting. On Mrs Morrison going into the room, she found her grasping a small table knife with her hand, and bleeding from a wound in the throat. Miss Cass at once ran and fetched her father, but when he arrived Mrs Cass was dead, having expired almost immediately after she was discos ered. The knife which she used belonged to Mr Cass, and had evidently been concealed by her before leaving home. Dr Meikle was sent or, but could do nothing, as Mrs Cass was dead before he arrived. She attempted to talce poison a short time ago, and had been closely watched by her family since. An inquest on the body of the late Mrs B. Cass will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday n.3xt. , ' ■ !
