L.P.C. v. U.C.C. The Cup matches were resumed on Saturday, the two clubs above meeting for the first time this season. A good but slow wicket was provided, upon which the two first men, Millton and Longden, played the faster bowling of the Park with ease. At last Mountfort and Dunlop were put on. The former is a colt, who was only given a place in the eleven at the last moment. Longden hit his first ball for 4, and was caught off the last, the board then showing Q4 for one wicket. After that came the deluge, Millton and Helmore alone being competent to play the new men with any ease. The former carried his bat right through the innings for 61, out of the total of 144. The Park batting was likewise distinguished for its inferiority, six wickets falling for the miserable amount of 46 runs. Stevens batted with some confidence, and is still in. The game will be resumed on Saturday. Score so far : — U.C.C— lst Innings.

A match was played at Hagley Park on Saturday last, between a scratch team of the Midland Club and the second eleven of the U.C.C. The former included four first eleven men, who all made double figures, but the remainder were chiefly youngsters ; they, however, shaped well, particularly Wicks and Judge. The Midlanders were the first to handle the willow, Fowke and Dudney being opposed to the bowling of Fairhurst and Cox. Their innings eventually closed for 123 runs. Dudney played well for his 35, showing great patience, contrary to his usual style. Fowke 10, Wheatley 17, and Halley 16, also batted well for their runs. The U.C.C. scored 54 for the loss of one wicket, the match thus ending in a draw in favour of the U.C.C. Ogier (sub.) 17, Harman, not out, 24, and Cox, not out, 13, were the only ones to bat for the United. Harman's play was exceedingly good. The wicket played abominably during both innings ; a worse pitch could hardly have been selected in any part of the ground. A match was played on Saturday, between the Stanmore Juniors C.C. and the Star of Stanmore C.C, which, resulted in a victory for the former by 57 runs in the first innings. For the winners W. and R. Thompson batted well, and for the losers Willis did good service. The match between the Lancaster Park Juniors (first eleven) and United Linwood resulted in a win on the first innings for the former by 56 runs. Scores -. — Juniors, 137 (A. Hobbs 38, Comer 21, not out, and A. Ridley 19) ; Linwood, 81, Dow being the highest scorer. ._ „

DUNEDIN, Jan. 14. On Saturday, last year's Interprovincial team were easily defeated by a trial sixteen. The former scored 57, and the latter 63. Dixon made 30 in good style, and bowled well. Ham, a new player, captured most of the eleven's wickets.

The half-yearly meeting of the DunstanLodge, U.A.0.D., was hold atthe Oxford Hotel on Thursday evening,* A.D. Bro Chandler presiding. The balance-sheet was read and adopted.
