COMPENSATION FOR MURDERS IN IRELAND.
The recent murders in Ireland have pro* bably been underestimated, or, at least, not become generally known in their . details. From the Dublin Gazette of May 1, some idea can be had of the state of affairs and the money penalties whioh the oountry is made to stand. The paper contains a list of awards made by the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland in the claims for compensation nnder the Crimes Aot for loss of relatives or per* sonal injuries. The first is £3000 to Mrs Harriet Blake for the murder of her bus* band, John Henry Blake, on June 29, 1882, in the County of Galway, to be raised off three baronies in the County within three yeara ; to Peter Dogherty, for the murder of his son at Currigeens, County Galway, on Nov. 2, 1881, £600 ie awarded, to be levied in the tame manner ; to Bridget Buane, for the murder of her husband at Loughrea on June 29, 1882, £400 $ to Michael Feeriok, for the murder of his eon, David Feerick, at Ballinrobe, County Mayo, £450 ; to Mrs Fanny Wallace, of Ohale Farm, lele of Wight, for the murder of Bobert Wallace, at Castle Taylor, County Galway, on June 8, 1882, £800 ; to Mary Dempty, of Biverville, Oounty Galway, for the murder of her hutband on May 29, 1882, at Holly Park, in that Oounty, £800,* to John Dillon, for the murder of hit father at Oulnacorla, Oounty Mayo, on Nov. 18, 1881, £500; to Harriette Yisoountesa Mountmorreß, for the murder on Sept. 25, 1880, of her husband, Viscount Mountmorres, at*- Olonbur, County Galway, £3000; to Bobert Wheeler, for the murder of his son Henry, on Nov. 12, 1880, at Garryhekin, County Limeriok, £1000, and to Mrs Harriet Blake, for personal injuries sustained by her on the occasion of her husband's murder, £1200. There are other smaller awards.
