The Government steamor Dispatch returned yesterday after on unsuccessful search for the miesing brig Louisa, which is now supposed to have 'oundered with all handa. The Tasmanian Govornment telegraphed their thanks for the promptitude and courtesy shown by the Victorian Government in searching the islands.
With regard to the Hawthorn accident, Government have decided that those who remit their caßes to the Board can have the same dealt with by three membors, or by the whole Board, at the claimant's option. Mr Gibson, Town Olerk of Dunedin, is now in Melbourne making searching enquiries relative to the frauds alleged to have been perpetrated by Maasey and his wife, with the viow of preparing a definite case for the preliminary investigation. A fatal accident took place on Sunday, ab Morogo station, Deniliquin. Thomas Bell, son of the owner, and two nephews, met their deaths through the upsetting of a boat. Bydney. During Saturday and Sunday last four inches of rain fell.
Colonel Bichardson, commander of lhe local forces, has returned from leave of absence in England, hy the Indua. Tlie Hon J. L. Parsons, of Adolaide, is on a visit to Bydney, and a number of gentlemen interested in" pastoral occupations in the northern territory have placed some important matters before him; notably the establishment of a regular mail service to all parts westward of Herbert Kiver, and police protection for the country beyond the Queensland border.
Arthur Kendall, aeont for tho steamer Nemesis, was charged bofore the Marine Board with permitting the steamer to leave for Melbourne with the Plimsoll mark immersed. Ho was committed for trial, bail boing allowed in the sum of £200. Beisbanb. Constable Dwyor was killed whilo attempting to arrest an aboriginal. Another constable thereupon shot the man dead. Adilaidb. The exports of produce from South Ans-
tralia last year amounted to £_,187,000, against £3,6-3,000 in tho previous year. The wine exports increased from 30,000 gallons in 1880 to 68,000 gallons last year. _^
