The first innings of the visitors closed for 217, and at the conclusion of the day's play the Home team, in their second innings, had lost one wicket for 25 runs. The English Cricketers. In the cricket match at Newoastle betweem a local eighteen and the English eleven, the latter, in their first innings, scored 339, as against 67 scored by the Newcastle men. When time waa called the latter had put together 54 for 15 wickets, and the match was drawn in favour of the Englishmen. The following are the scores : — Eighteen, first innings, 67. EXGLIBHHBX. First Innings. Barnes, caught 13 Bligh, stumped 22 Leslie, caught 61 C. T. Studd, bowled 0 Barlow, oaught 39 A. <_-. Steel, caught 25 Tylecote, caught 33 Bead, caught 64 Bates, not out 34 Vernon, oaught 41 Alexander (substitute) 3 Extras 14 Total ... ' 339 (Not 217 as stated in a previous message.) Eighteen, second innings, 15 wickets for 54 runs. The weather was fine, and there was a large attendance.
