[SPBCIAL TO THB " BTAB."] BANGIOBA, Dec. 11. The ninth annual cession of the Grand Division of New Zealand Sons and Daughters of Temperance w-a opened in the Temperance Hall here to-day, at 10 a.m. Mr J. A. D. Adams, G-.W. Patriarch, presided, and representatives were present from Dunedin, Ohristchurch, Greymouth, Ashburton, Kaiapoi, Woodend, and Bangiora. The O.W. Secretary's report showed the benefit members to number 385, against 406 in 1881, and the capital to amount to £2724, being at the rate of £7 16s per member. _ A man named George Johnston was brought up at the Police Court here to-day, oharged with the larceny of a coat and vest from a swag at the Lien Hotel on Saturday. The evidence showed againßt him, but was not considered sufficient to convict, and he was therefore discharged. A requisition to the Mayor to call a publio meeting to consider the advisability of arranging for sports to be held here on New Year's Day is being passed round for signature.
