Lord Chancellor Selbonrne (Ronndell Palmer) has been raised to an Earldom. The Khedive has amnestied all minor offenders. The United States Congress meets on Monday. The President's message urges the necessity for a revision of the tariff, and an increase in both army and navy. It also supports the proposal to render more suitable the tenure of offices in the public services. John Day, the well-known trainer, is dead. Arab! Pasha exhibited a calm dignity throughout his trial, but the Europeans in Egypt are highly indignant at the farcical proceedings. The natives rejoice greatly at the result. The English press highly eulogises Lord Dufferin's tact'cs in the matter. M. Grevy, in replying to a deputation of English Unionists, said he believed the completion of a tunnel between France and England would be productive of the happiest results, but the decision as to whether the tunnel project should go on rested with England.
