HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

An ordinary mooting of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was hnld yesterday afternoon ; present— The Mayor of Christchurch (in the chair), Mr W. Montgomery, the Mayor of Sydenham, and Dr Prins. , OOBBBBPONDBKCB. A letter wh« read from the Government, authorising the expenditure of £60 on repairs to the Armagh street depd f .. HOSPITAL COMMITTBB. The following was read and approved : — " The Hospital Committoe report that during the fortnight ending Sept. 30 thirtysix patients were admitted into the Hospital and twenty-eight discharged, leaving sixty* one patients in the institution. During the same period there were six deaths. For the correspanding period of last year tho number of patients in tho Hoflpital was sixty-eix. The Committee beg to acknowledge, with thanks, the receipt of 12s through the Kesidsnfc Magistrate's Court, boing witness 1 expenses allowed to Mr Victor in the c«e of Nathan v. Harris and Louisson, and gi7en by him to the Hospital funds." Mr Joyce suggested that an artesian well should be made to flush the drain in the Biccarton road. The Chairman thought the attention of the Drainage Board should be called to this. A resolution was agreed to giving the Hospital Committee power to enquire into the matter with power to act. An application from the City Guards Band •was read for permission to give an open-air concert occasionally on Saturday afternoons in the Hospital grounds for the benefit of the institution. Mr Joyce spoke stroiigly in favour of the request, and moved that the letter be referred to the Hospital Committoe with power to act. This was agreed to. The lato master of the Orphanage remitted £33 2j 4d. Mr Joyce reported that Mr and Mrs Sitchie had taken charge and appeared to be .going on satisfactorily. The number of obildren in tke institution is 47 boys, 37 girls ; total, 84. ASHBUBTOH HOME. An application from the master of the Old Men's Home for two invalid ohairs was granted. CHABITABLB AID. A number of cases of charitable aid were dealt with, and the Board thon adjourned.
